What
is Spiritualism?
Rev. Virginia’s defining of:
Spiritualism
for me is a way of my being and living which is filled with God!
This “way” was and is a process of my evolvement. I
am so grateful that I am where I am now . . . with more to unfold!
Spiritualism
is both personal and universal.
By this, I mean that God is indwelling of all living
beings, and also infinitely surrounds everyone and all life.
We are all “of spirit”
(energy). There is no concrete feeling of what energy is, but this energy
is undeniable. As human beings we were given the ability of the
intellect. With this ability, we can learn and we make choices:
those which are of the source of God (love) or those which
are of the ego.
Spiritualism
is a way of “GOD-ness”. This way of
“God-ness” makes for living with inner peace.
That which is “of God” is “of good”.
Goodness permeates peace in the heart.
We as living beings
have a physical body.
This physical body “is the temple of God ”.
We “house” the spirit.
When we die, our body ceases to serve us here, but our
Spirit goes on . . .
Because
Spirit is infinite and we are all “of spirit” (God), there is
on-going communication with God, as well as ALL SPIRIT.
We
are all one; we are all “of God”.

It
is my prayer-full intention that you always evolve spiritually, so
as to experience peace now and hereafter with the ever-presence of GOD.

Webster’s definition:
Spiritualism
is the belief that the dead survive as spirits which can
communicate with the living, especially with the help of a third
party, referred to as a medium. This can occur through
messages or energy/spiritual healing.
The National Spiritualist Association of Churches'
definition
Spiritualism is the science, philosophy and religion of continuous
life, based upon the demonstrated fact of communication, by means
of mediumship, with those who are in the Spirit World.
The definition adopted in 1948 during the centenary of the
movement known as Modern Spiritualism, very succinctly defines
Spiritualism as: the proof of survival.
From
this definition, we can see that Spiritualism focuses on three
major concepts:
o
There
is personal and conscious survival of birth and death.
o
Death,
itself, is the transition from one realm of awareness and life to
another.
o
Communication
of some form between this world and the world of Spirit is
possible, provided that certain conditions prevail.

A few definitions:
spiritual healer – a person who allows himself or herself to
be used as a servant/channel (medium) for the flow of healing light and
energy which comes from God. This can be done for the benefit
of self and others.
mediumship – the process whereby a human instrument, known as
a medium or channel, is used by one or more discarnate, spirit
personalities for the purpose of love, peace, and healing.
energy/spiritual healing – is related to the concept of
vibration. The servant/medium acts as a channel for positive
healing energy to course through them to the recipient.
religion - the service and worship of God.
Christian – one who professes belief in the teachings of
Jesus Christ.
Christianity – religion derived from Jesus Christ based
on the Bible as sacred scripture; a full understanding of the
divine principle of Jesus’ s teachings and healings.
prayer – a means whereby we talk with God and express
ourselves. In healing, prayer becomes important, in that it
acknowledges that there is a power beyond the self, that of GOD.

What is Circle of Inner Light
Spiritualist Community?
Circle of Inner Light
Spiritual Community is a place that provides
sacred space to house those who wish and choose to develop their
spirituality, with the understanding that spirituality is a transforming
power that has meaning only if it is lived daily. As this transforming
occurs, one's soul develops through doing good out of love of/for GOD.
In our community,
we have opportunity and resources to evolve together to develop spiritual
qualities through weekly services, on-going classes, sessions, and
circles. We also have G.L.O.W. (Grandparents Loving Our
World).
Pertaining to Spiritualism: When a person dies, his or
her soul
moves to the spirit world and will continue to progress for eternity. Each
progression of the soul takes it closer to GOD.
We understand and accept that a spirit world coexists overlapping the
material world. People can develop their souls
through developing spiritual qualities in either this world or the next.
Spiritualists communicate with spirits of the living and the
dead. Through this communication, continuous development of
the soul can occur. A Spiritualist service is held
the 4th Sunday of each month. A Spiritualist Healing and
Message Service is held the 3rd Monday/month. There
are also on-going classes, sessions, and circles specific to
Spiritualism.

Frequently asked questions about Spiritualism:
Is Spiritualism a religion?
If you choose it to be. Some
view it as a way of being and life; others as a religion.
Is Spiritualism Christian?
Yes; we profess belief in the
teachings and healings of Jesus Christ. (John 12:46-47) "I have come as a
light in the world, that everyone who believes in me, may not remain in darkness.
And if anyone hears my sayings, and does not keep them, I do not judge them,
for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world."
Is Spiritualism a cult?
No, our beliefs are orthodox and
not spurious.
What might a Spiritualist service consist of?
Prayer/gratitude, mediation,
scripture and/or inspirational readings, song/chant/music, a delivery of inspiration
(sermon), energy/spiritual
healing, Spirit messages, an absentee prayer/healing book.
Perhaps Spiritualism is the
process whereby all religions came into being ... as a result of communication with God
and God's Kingdom of Spirit. Our fundamental doctrine states that God is Spirit,
we are Spirit, our "enemies" are Spirit; and that is how we all are connected.
We are One!
